To date, these councils are located in Vic, WA, and NSW. There has been a focus on these states as they have held council elections over the past couple of years.
CACE is always eager to hear about councils that meet any of the three criteria above.
- surveys of local government candidates at election time showed a strong support for climate emergency and a number of these candidates were elected to council
- existing councillors are pushing for a local government shift to Climate Emergency
- there is active community pushing the local government for a Climate Emergency response.
