Local government elections are an ideal time to campaign for a climate emergency response by councils.
You can run as a candidate, help CACE conduct candidate surveys, or undertake community awareness raising about the role local government can take in the climate emergency.
When running as a candidate you can use postal ballot to spread the climate emergency message, talk to other candidates about the climate emergency, run your own community awareness raising campaign, and speak on the issue at public forums. Save the Planet is a climate emergency / safe climate focus political party that runs candidates at all three levels of government including local government and is looking for people to run on a climate emergency platform.
The general local government election are listed below, however also check for by-elections before the mayor elections due to resignations etc.
